Job Summary
The Staff Database Administrator will maintain, optimize, and scale Wikimedia’s large‑scale MariaDB databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability for millions of users worldwide.
List of Duties
- Ensure health and performance of production relational databases
- Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot DB systems across environments
- Design and manage multi-site replication topologies
- Consult on schema design and query optimization
- Monitor and improve database performance
- Enhance observability with alerting and metrics
- Plan capacity and infrastructure upgrades
- Automate common DBA workflows
- Maintain backups and restore processes
- Collaborate with MariaDB upstream community
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
