Dairy Farm Manager

About the Role

Responsible for the daily management of a dairy farm near Debre Birhan, overseeing animal care, milking operations, staff supervision, budgeting, and compliance with agricultural regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily care for dairy animals including feeding schedules, herd management, and feed supply
• Plan and direct all milking phases on the farm
• Identify, develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability
• Oversee milking operations and schedule
• Maintain facilities, grounds, and equipment
• Assign staff roles, supervise, mentor, and ensure proper training and safety standards
• Treat sick animals and assist with breeding and births
• Prepare balanced farm budgets and manage financial reports
• Ensure maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment
• Train new employees on feeding, handling, and other duties
• Order feed, supplies, and equipment
• Communicate needs and problems effectively with staff, officials, and owners
• Manage operational expenses and work with contractors, advisers, and veterinarians
• Monitor herd health to maintain production quality
• Ensure compliance with local agricultural laws and environmental regulations
• Stay updated on new farm technologies and dairy practices
• Keep thorough records of vaccinations, illnesses, medications, breeding
• Organize and coordinate milk mapping and quality control from farms to collection centers
