The Specialized Procedure Nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient safety, effective monitoring, and seamless coordination with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing specialized procedures
- Conduct pre-procedure assessments and prepare patients
- Assist physicians during procedures
- Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout procedures
- Administer medications and support sedation where authorized
- Manage post-procedure recovery and respond to complications
- Perform intravenous access, specimen collection, wound care, catheter care, dressing changes
- Maintain accurate procedural documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for scheduling and equipment readiness
