About the Role

The Pathologist at Washington Healthcare PLC diagnoses diseases through examination of tissues, organs, fluids, and autopsies, supporting clinical decisions and disease surveillance while ensuring laboratory quality and training staff.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and interpret surgical specimens, biopsies, and cytology samples
• Perform gross and microscopic examination of tissue to identify abnormalities
• Conduct laboratory tests in hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and immunology
• Perform autopsies for cause-of-death determination
• Provide expert consultation to clinicians
• Ensure quality control and assurance in lab procedures
• Maintain detailed records of findings
• Collaborate with technologists and clinicians
• Develop and implement lab policies and safety protocols
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and present findings
• Stay updated on advancements in pathology
• Train and mentor junior staff and medical students
