Operating Room (OR) Coordinator

About the Role

The Operating Room Coordinator manages daily operations of the OR to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality perioperative services through scheduling, coordination, safety monitoring, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operating room activities to ensure efficient surgical services
• Ensure rooms are prepared, equipped, and staffed before procedures
• Monitor compliance with safety protocols and infection prevention standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other staff throughout the perioperative process
• Manage patient flow and handle emergency/urgent cases while balancing elective schedules
• Track performance indicators such as volume, turnaround times, and utilization rates
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, equipment usage, and inventory
• Coordinate procurement and stock control of surgical supplies
• Ensure maintenance and calibration of operating room equipment
• Support quality improvement initiatives and policy development
• Provide orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development for OR staff
