Infection Control Nurse

About the Role

The Infection Control Nurse plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates infection prevention and control programs within the healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with national regulations and safeguarding patient and staff safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and communicable diseases
• Identify, investigate, and report infection outbreaks and implement containment measures
• Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, environmental cleaning, and sterilization
• Participate in risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize infection risks
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for infection prevention and management
• Review microbiology and clinical data to identify infection patterns and antimicrobial resistance trends
• Conduct infection control rounds and inspections across departments
• Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate surveillance records and prepare periodic reports for leadership and regulatory bodies
• Coordinate committee meetings and conduct audits of infection practices
• Provide education and training programs on infection prevention for staff, patients, and visitors
