The Gastroenterologist will diagnose, treat and manage a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions through outpatient and inpatient care, including endoscopic procedures, while maintaining patient records and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with GI and hepatobiliary disorders
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as GERD, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding and cancers
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy
- Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies and pathology reports related to gastrointestinal diseases
- Manage acute and chronic liver diseases and coordinate care with specialists
- Provide emergency care for gastrointestinal bleeding, foreign body ingestion and other urgent conditions
- Maintain accurate patient records and procedure reports
- Ensure proper use, maintenance and infection control of endoscopic equipment
- Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, dietitians and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in quality assurance and clinical governance activities
- Educate patients on digestive health, disease prevention and treatment options
