The Area Sales Manager leads distributor operations, drives sales performance, manages key accounts, and ensures alignment with company targets across Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar.
Responsibilities
- Manage secondary sales from distributors to general trade
- Report sales performance to team and distributors
- Support daily sell‑out and primary order delivery
- Collaborate with sales coordinators
- Achieve revenue and SKU targets for all products per distributor
- Conduct weekly/monthly sales reviews
- Lead a team of distributor sales representatives
- Oversee stock, order management, demand forecasting, credit, profitability, and KPIs
- Build relationships with key retailers and wholesalers
- Manage key account customers under each distributor
- Develop RTM database and support account development
- Analyze secondary sales reports and adjust strategies
- Provide competitor insights to RSM and trade marketing
- Ensure distributors maintain adequate stocks
- Conduct competitor analysis with marketing
- Hold weekly/monthly meetings with DSRs and staff
- Handle e‑mail and telegram communications
- Ensure resource compliance, reporting downtime and undelivered orders
- Invest 90% time in market visits and 10% in office work
- Coach and motivate distributor sales teams
- Maintain relationships with coordinators and drivers
- Communicate company EHS rules and report incidents
