About the Role

The Area Sales Manager leads distributor operations, drives sales performance, manages key accounts, and ensures alignment with company targets across Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar.

Responsibilities

  • Manage secondary sales from distributors to general trade
  • Report sales performance to team and distributors
  • Support daily sell‑out and primary order delivery
  • Collaborate with sales coordinators
  • Achieve revenue and SKU targets for all products per distributor
  • Conduct weekly/monthly sales reviews
  • Lead a team of distributor sales representatives
  • Oversee stock, order management, demand forecasting, credit, profitability, and KPIs
  • Build relationships with key retailers and wholesalers
  • Manage key account customers under each distributor
  • Develop RTM database and support account development
  • Analyze secondary sales reports and adjust strategies
  • Provide competitor insights to RSM and trade marketing
  • Ensure distributors maintain adequate stocks
  • Conduct competitor analysis with marketing
  • Hold weekly/monthly meetings with DSRs and staff
  • Handle e‑mail and telegram communications
  • Ensure resource compliance, reporting downtime and undelivered orders
  • Invest 90% time in market visits and 10% in office work
  • Coach and motivate distributor sales teams
  • Maintain relationships with coordinators and drivers
  • Communicate company EHS rules and report incidents
