The Environmental Health Officer ensures a safe, hygienic, and compliant healthcare environment by monitoring risks, enforcing health standards, managing waste, supporting infection control, conducting inspections, and providing staff training.
Responsibilities
- Monitor cleanliness and hygiene across all hospital departments
- Conduct regular inspections of patient care areas, waste systems, kitchens, and sanitation facilities
- Ensure compliance with environmental health regulations and organizational policies
- Identify risks and recommend corrective actions promptly
- Support IPC implementation and monitoring
- Maintain proper disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation practices
- Manage segregation, collection, transport, storage, and disposal of healthcare waste
- Prepare inspection findings, reports, and compliance recommendations
- Provide training and awareness sessions on hygiene and environmental safety
- Document incidents, hazards, corrective actions, and prepare periodic reports
