Environmental Health Officer

About the Role

The Environmental Health Officer ensures a safe, hygienic, and compliant healthcare environment by monitoring risks, enforcing health standards, managing waste, supporting infection control, conducting inspections, and providing staff training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cleanliness and hygiene across all hospital departments
• Conduct regular inspections of patient care areas, waste systems, kitchens, and sanitation facilities
• Ensure compliance with environmental health regulations and organizational policies
• Identify risks and recommend corrective actions promptly
• Support IPC implementation and monitoring
• Maintain proper disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation practices
• Manage segregation, collection, transport, storage, and disposal of healthcare waste
• Prepare inspection findings, reports, and compliance recommendations
• Provide training and awareness sessions on hygiene and environmental safety
• Document incidents, hazards, corrective actions, and prepare periodic reports
