The Financial Inclusion Officer leads the design, implementation, and monitoring of digital and Sharia‑compliant financial services initiatives in Ethiopia, focusing on climate resilience, gender inclusion, and market system strengthening.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement financial inclusion interventions with climate‑responsive and gender‑inclusive focus
- Conduct market system assessments for digital and Sharia‑compliant finance
- Build partnerships with banks, fintechs, regulators and community actors
- Expand and digitize Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) in Oromia
- Develop and scale climate‑responsive financial products with partner institutions
- Strengthen agent networks and consumer protection systems
- Monitor progress, identify risks and ensure compliance with Mercy Corps policies
- Represent Mercy Corps at coordination and learning events
