The WASH Officer leads the planning, implementation, and monitoring of water, sanitation, hygiene, and vector control interventions in emergency and development settings, ensuring compliance with international standards while supervising infrastructure projects and capacity-building activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and monitor WASH activities in line with humanitarian standards
- Conduct needs assessments and WASHFIT to identify gaps
- Develop BoQ and procurement plans for WASH projects
- Supervise construction and rehabilitation of water supply, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards
- Design infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil3D, Ephanet, WaterGEMS and ArcGIS
- Monitor progress, conduct site inspections and address technical challenges
- Facilitate training workshops for staff and community groups
- Coordinate with health teams, local authorities and UN agencies
