The TSF Engineer is responsible for designing, overseeing construction, monitoring, and maintaining the safety and regulatory compliance of the mine’s tailings storage facility, ensuring long-term structural integrity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design, construct oversight and risk management of the TSF and water retention dams
- Monitor instrumentation (piezometers, displacement systems) for stability analysis
- Perform seepage, slope stability, liquefaction analyses under various conditions
- Supervise embankment raises and quality assurance of construction materials
- Develop and update deposition strategies and water balance models
- Ensure compliance with GISTM, ICMC, Ethiopian regulations and company frameworks
- Prepare statutory reports, audit responses and regulatory submissions
- Coordinate emergency response drills and maintain operational manuals (OMSM, TARP, EPRP)
- Provide technical support to operations teams and train staff on TSF procedures
