Senior Agronomist

About the Role

Senior Agronomist responsible for researching and implementing advanced cultivation techniques, managing agricultural projects, analyzing data, and presenting findings to improve crop yield at Gibe-Gesha Farm.

Responsibilities

• Develop planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques to improve crop yield
• Create irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines
• Research strategies to mitigate soil, climate, pest impacts
• Assess crop production and evaluate seed quality
• Conduct laboratory tests on soil, seed, and crop samples
• Perform quality control for seed caliber and soil standards
• Collect field samples and analyze for deficiencies or diseases
• Review literature to guide research
• Design experiments and surveys
• Formulate research objectives and proposals
• Collect and organize data from experiments, surveys, interviews, and observations
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using statistical tools
• Write research papers, reports, and summaries
• Present findings at conferences and to stakeholders
• Manage research projects including goals and budgets
• Maintain accurate research records and databases
• Collaborate with researchers, institutions, and industry partners
