The Surge Medical Doctor delivers emergency and general clinical care in high‑patient inflow or humanitarian crisis settings, stabilizing critical cases, mentoring staff, and maintaining essential medical services at designated health centers or hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical care in emergency, outpatient, and inpatient settings
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute medical cases including severe infections, trauma, and complications
- Support life‑saving procedures with specialist staff
- Mentor and supervise nurses, medical officers, and junior staff
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and medical record keeping
- Implement infection prevention and control practices per IMC standards
- Participate in hospital emergency preparedness and response activities
- Coordinate patient referrals to higher‑level facilities
- Contribute to quality improvement and clinical audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
