The Midwife Mentor will lead technical support and quality improvement initiatives to ensure evidence-based maternal and child health services are delivered in Western Gurage Zone, enhancing fistula prevention and treatment across the region.
Responsibilities
- Ensure program technical soundness and evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with regional health centers and deployed Hamlin midwives for strategic leadership
- Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and successes to project leaders
- Offer technical support to woreda health offices and stakeholders in fistula prevention and treatment referral
- Participate in fistula patient identification and strengthen referral systems
- Submit mentorship reports to the team leader and relevant bodies
- Promote community involvement of midwife activities
- Implement and coordinate mentorship, facility, and community-based assessments
- Collaborate with health extension workers for recruitment of pregnant women into cohorts
- Conduct baseline, midterm, and end-of-term evaluations of the project
- Travel between health facilities and woreda offices as needed
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of project activities
- Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors
