About the Role

The MEL Officer will design, implement, and strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems across Eyu Ethiopia’s programmes, ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement of eye health interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen MEAL frameworks, indicators, and performance plans
  • Design and standardise data collection tools, reporting templates, and monitoring methodologies
  • Ensure compliance with organisational standards, donor requirements, and national reporting frameworks
  • Support integration of digital information systems for programme monitoring
  • Coordinate routine programme data collection and maintain secure databases
  • Conduct data quality assessments and audits
  • Monitor implementation against work plans and KPIs
  • Analyse performance data to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and donor reports and dashboards
  • Coordinate baseline, midline, endline, and other evaluations
  • Document lessons learned and best practices
  • Facilitate learning events and review meetings
  • Build capacity of staff on MEL concepts and tools
  • Provide technical support for indicator development and data utilisation
  • Promote a culture of evidence generation and continuous learning
  • Collaborate with programme, research, finance, and operations teams
  • Liaise with government institutions, donors, academic partners, and implementing organisations
  • Contribute to proposal development with results frameworks and MEL plans
