Human Rights Officer, Monitoring and Investigation

About the Role

The role involves investigating human rights complaints, monitoring detention facilities and emergencies, drafting reports, developing advocacy strategies, managing stakeholder relations, and contributing to policy development within the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission.

Responsibilities

• Manage investigation of human rights complaints assigned to him/her
• Conduct monitoring of places of detention and draft reports
• Conduct human rights monitoring during emergencies
• Issue recommendations and implement advocacy strategies
• Propose areas for systemic investigation and refer them to thematic functions
• Manage partnerships and relationships with stakeholders
• Conduct research on human rights issues as appropriate
• Provide input on revisions of systems, policies, guidelines, manuals, and tools
