The Protection Assistant – PSS implements psychosocial support activities in Sanja, Ethiopia, focusing on individual and group counseling, trauma healing, capacity building, and referrals for vulnerable populations while ensuring confidentiality and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of structured and unstructured PSS activities for children, adolescents, adults and caregivers
- Facilitate group sessions such as life skills, peer support groups, child‑friendly space activities and community‑based PSS sessions
- Provide basic individual psychosocial support in accordance with PSS principles
- Plan and organize awareness sessions on stress management, coping mechanisms and positive parenting
- Organize community dialogues and psychoeducation sessions
- Conduct capacity building training for community leaders on PFA and basic psychosocial support principles
- Identify individuals showing signs of distress and provide psychological first aid or refer them to specialized services
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to survivor‑centered approaches
- Document attendance records, activity reports and monitor tools
- Coordinate logistics and procurement for staff movements within operational areas
