The Officer I, WASH is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring water, sanitation, and hygiene activities in schools and surrounding communities within the Safe Learning Project, ensuring gender-sensitive, inclusive, and sustainable solutions while coordinating stakeholders and maintaining safeguarding standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead WASH activity implementation per project plans and donor requirements
- Design, bid preparation, construction and maintenance of WaSH infrastructure in schools and communities
- Ensure facilities are gender-sensitive, disability-inclusive, and child-friendly
- Promote climate-resilient and sustainable WASH solutions
- Develop and facilitate hygiene promotion campaigns for students, teachers, parents, and communities
- Coordinate with education, protection officers and government offices to integrate programming
- Participate in WASH coordination forums and build capacity of local stakeholders
- Monitor project progress, conduct field visits, collect and report data
- Document lessons learned and contribute to baseline/midline/end-line assessments
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection and risk management policies
