The role involves acting as an on-demand Legal Advisor for ActionAid Ethiopia, offering specialized counsel on contracts, labor law, safeguarding, litigation, and regulatory compliance to ensure operations align with Ethiopian law and international standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel to senior management and HR on contracts, donor agreements, MoUs and vendor risk frameworks
- Offer guidance on employment contracts, performance management, disciplinary procedures and labor compliance
- Represent ActionAid in courts, tribunals and arbitration concerning HR, compliance and other matters
- Oversee safeguarding investigations and duty-of-care/security policy compliance
- Support regulatory and federation compliance communications
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ethiopian NGO regulations and global federation legal expectations
